Meyerland has a rich history

Meyerland has a rich history as an incredible community. Did you know that then Vice President Richard Nixon cut the ribbon to our grand opening, which featured a parade of homes? Look magazine devoted four pages to Meyerland in 1957 and House and Home called Meyerland the “ideal plan” for a subdivision in 1958, and we’re still ideal today!

Many gems of mid-century modern design were built here and remain a key feature of the area. Meyerland featured the “Formica House” that was virtually covered in Formica thanks to its Formica salesman owner, and even included a few carpeted and cork walls. The “Carousel House” was also a prominent local modern dream.
